Work commences at St Albans community centre in Smethwick, West Midlands.

St Albans Community Centre will be the first project that E H Humphries have had the pleasure of working for Rawdon Construction Ltd, Derbyshire.

The St Albans Community Centre has been running since 1984 and has provided the local community with a range of activities and services that have improved the quality of life for both the elderly and the young. E H Humphries are proud to be able to assist Rawdon Construction in delivering such an important project.

The project consists of a part new build with 2 extensions and a part refurbishment. The building is an old church which has a grade 2 listing status. Along with the 2 new extensions, internally there is a sensitive refurbishment for a new heating system.

There are 3 phases of works to the St Albans project, the 1st of which is a single storey new building which will create an office space for the administration of managerial staff. E H Humphries will be up grading the existing LV switch room, installation of small power and lighting, fire alarm and data installation to the new building.

Mechanically Works comprise of new radiator installation to new extension. Modifying existing heating services within the Nursery and associated rooms. Provision of new a boiler to serve new extension along with radiators. Also including extract ventilation and controls.

The new build project has been designed with LST radiators and energy efficient boilers.

This is a 3 phase project with interaction with the elderly people who visit this centre. Care and constant liaison with the Community Centre staff to deliver this project successfully, on time with all due consideration to the local community throughout the works.
