COSTA COFFEE & M&S – WARWICK HOSPITAL

Project Overview

As part of a wider refurbishment initiative at Warwick Hospital, a new Costa Coffee and Marks & Spencer (M&S) outlet was developed to improve on-site retail offerings for staff, patients, and visitors. We were appointed to deliver the complete electrical and mechanical services installation for the retail units, integrating them within the live hospital environment.

Working within an operational hospital required careful planning and coordination. Our team scheduled high-impact works during off-peak hours and maintained close liaison with hospital estate teams to minimise disruption.

Scope of Works

Our team was responsible for a comprehensive range of services, including:

Electrical Installation

  • Full lighting design and installation (energy-efficient LED systems)
  • Emergency lighting to meet NHS regulations
  • Small power and data installations
  • Fire alarm integration with the hospital’s existing system
  • Containment systems (traywork, trunking, conduits)

Mechanical Installation

  • HVAC systems (ventilation, heating & cooling for retail spaces)
  • Plumbing and waste systems for kitchens and toilets
  • Hot & cold water services
  • Mechanical controls and BMS integration

Both Costa and M&S had bespoke MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) requirements. We liaised directly with their technical representatives to ensure compliance with corporate brand standards while adhering to NHS site constraints.

The project was delivered on time and within budget, with zero reportable incidents. Both retail units are now fully operational, offering improved amenities to the hospital community. The installation met all NHS, Costa Coffee, and M&S specifications, and has since been cited as a benchmark for future hospital-retail developments.
